Best Time to Visit the Taj Mahal

A practical seasonal and time-of-day guide for planning a comfortable Taj Mahal visit.

October to March offers the most comfortable daytime weather for sightseeing in Agra. Mornings can be cool, particularly in December and January, so travellers should carry a light layer.

April to June is hot, but an early sunrise visit can still be rewarding. July to September brings the monsoon season, with fewer crowds on some days but a greater chance of rain.

Sunrise is popular for softer light and cooler temperatures. Arriving early also gives you more time to visit Agra Fort or continue to Jaipur or Delhi later in the day.

The Taj Mahal is normally closed to visitors on Fridays, so confirm your travel date before finalising transport and accommodation.
